Google subsidiary Waymo to lease, invest in Detroit factory

Waymo had reached an agreement with American Axle & Manufacturing to lease an existing factory in Detroit, MI.

The company will invest $13.6 million in the factory. The move will allow Waymo to retrofit Fiat Chrysler and Jaguar automobiles with self-driving systems.

The leased plant is expected to grow to 200,000 square feet and employ hundreds of workers.
