Today Spec On The Job is highlighting the achievements of Indianapolis, IN Branch Manager Bill Davis. We also wanted to give everyone an inside look at what it’s like working for Spec.

What is your name and your job title?

William “Bill” Davis, Branch Manager of Spec On The Job’s Indianapolis, IN office.

How did you get into the staffing/recruiting/personnel services industry?

I had experience in safety, compliance and recruiting in the transportation industry before I got the opportunity to get into staffing through Spec On The Job.

What is your typical day like?

Typically my day will start at about 5:30 AM. I wake up and check my email and texts to make sure the evening has gone well and to see if there are any immediate customer concerns that need to be taken care of. By 7:00 AM I have arrived in the office and I begin answering emails in earnest. By 8:00 AM I am making phone calls to existing and potential customers. Throughout the day I check-in with our recruiters to make sure we are getting in the right candidates to fill our customers’ open job orders.

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

It is tough when our workers do not follow through on their commitments. We try to coach them to do better and be better.

What’s a common question that you’re asked?

“How much notice do you need to get me a worker.” This is a tough question. Sometimes we can get someone in as little as 15 minutes. However, the more notice we get, the more successful we will be at finding the right person to do the job.

What was one of your most rewarding moments at Spec On The Job?

We had a worker who had a very limited availability due to child-care issues. We were able to work with one of our customers to fill an open job that would help them out while also being within our worker’s schedule.
