Today Spec On The Job is highlighting the achievements of Tampa, FL Branch Manager Gonna Goff.We also wanted to give everyone an inside look at what it’s like working for Spec.
What is your name and your job title?
Donna Goff, Branch Manager of Spec On The Job’s Florida Regional Office.
How did you get into the staffing/recruiting/personnel services industry?
As a business owner for many years, I had the opportunity to recruit and develop a successful team. With this experience (along with business-development experience) I was previously hired by a global staffing company to manage a district in Florida. The variety of the job tasks and responsibilities were both rewarding and challenging. I found a way to use my passion for team-building and mentoring talent.
What is your typical day like?
Each day starts with a brief team huddle so I know who is taking on what tasks. Our company culture is based on client follow-up and account management, so I make a lot of outbound calls and emails to clients.
As a manager I work from the field often, visiting work sites and dropping in to talk with potential new clients. Throughout the day I am in touch with my branch team and help with recruiting and administrative tasks as needed.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
Staffing creates such a fluid environment that time management and prioritization are critical to having a successful day. Some days can be challenging if you lose focus or do not stay on course; it is always best to be flexible to handle the curve balls!
What’s a common question that you’re asked?
“Do we have quality candidates?” My answer is, “Yes!” We take a lot of pride in our screening, vetting, and approval processes of each candidate prior to introducing them to each client. Our truck drivers and other candidates must be SPEC-approved, with lots of checks and balances before we make that client introduction. In doing so we lessen our turnover rates, build trust with our clients, and present a rewarding experience to our candidates.
What was one of your most rewarding moments at Spec On The Job?
To not only build an awesome relationship with my largest client, but to also earn their trust. When said national company moved their largest truck terminal to a new city, we were entrusted with hiring and placing 40 CDL truck drivers in a very short time. By sharing this success story with future clients, we have been able to validate that our commitment to our clients is always our FIRST priority.
