Today Spec On The Job is highlighting the achievements of Jeff Gilmore, Recruiter in our New York Metro area office. We also wanted to give everyone an inside look at what it’s like working for Spec.
What is your name and your job title?
Jeff Gilmore, Recruiter at Spec NY Metro.
How did you get into the staffing/recruiting/personnel services industry?
I worked for Spec On The Job in the field as a laborer, then as a Carpenter’s Apprentice for a few years. Then Spec asked if I’d like to work for the NY Metro office. That job change was the best decision I’ve ever made.
What is your typical day like?
As a recruiter, it varies from day to day, which I enjoy. It mixes things up a bit. My typical days consists of combing through resumes and making calls to applicants so I can schedule them to come in for interviews in hopes of placing them on a job.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
The two things I find the most challenging are coordinating job interviews and a worker’s first day on the job.
What’s a common question that you’re asked?
“Is this permanent, full-time, year-round, guaranteed work?”
What was one of your most rewarding moments at Spec On The Job?
Being awarded Employee of the Month and being recognized as one of the top recruiters in the company.
