The move comes after Ford announced earlier this week that it will be bringing production of new battery-electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and the next generation of Mustang to its Flat Rock, MI plant.
GM originally intended to build the new electric vehicle outside the U.S. However, the company said it decided to move production to its Orion Assembly Plant because of crossover in the manufacturing process between the new electric vehicle and the Chevrolet Bolt, which is already built in the Lake Orion facility.
