$40 million manufacturing plant coming to Hazel Park, MI

German battery maker Akasol AG plans to open a $40 million manufacturing plant in Hazel Park.

The plant will be located at the former Hazel Park Raceway and is expected to create 224 jobs. The plant will supply lithium-ion batteries for on- and off-road vehicles.

The company has not yet signed a lease for the property, so it is not yet known when the plant will begin operations.
