Worries of an economic slowdown in 2019 are likely to depress oil prices.

“The only way is down,” said Tamas Varga, senior analyst at PVM Oil Associates.

Brent crude fell to a low of $57.20 per barrel on Tuesday, which is the third consecutive week of declines. The oil benchmark has continued to fall since October because of factors that include increasing global inventories.

Framing lumber: $335

Panels/plywood: $364

As the holidays get closer, trading in both framing lumber products and structural panel products continues to limp along. As a result, prices slipped for both classes of products.

Where you live has a big effect on your likelihood of getting a raise.

About 30% of workers reported receiving a raise in 2018. But workers in certain areas did even better.

Workers in the Midwest and New England were more likely to say they had gotten a raise. Meanwhile, workers in the Pacific and Mountain regions were less likely to have seen a pay increase.

This data correlates with the areas where employers are more likely to be hiring. According to a survey by Prudential, businesses in New England are more likely to be adding workers, while companies in the Pacific and Mountain regions are less likely.
