Job creation slowed significantly in May. The economy only added 75,000 jobs last month, compared to 263,000 jobs the previous month.

Analysts had expected the economy to add 180,000 jobs in May.

“We had expected a slowdown after several years of job gains holding around 200,000, but not this much of a slowdown,” said Beth Ann Bovino, U.S. chief economist for S&P Global Ratings.
