Where Is Fall Protection Required?

Fall protection is required anywhere on a construction site where workers are exposed to vertical drops of 6 feet or more.

According to OSHA, construction sites that have any of the following hazards should have a Fall Prevention Plan in place:

• Unprotected sides and edges
• Holes
• Wall openings
• Excavations
• Leading edges
• Hoist areas
• Formwork and reinforcing steel
• Ramps, runways, and other walkways
• Dangerous equipment
• Overhand bricklaying and related work
• Roofing work on low-slope roofs
• Steep roofs
• Erections of pre-cast concrete, including:
