A Kroger Marketplace is planned for the site of a now-closed Kmart building in Sterling Heights, MI.
Demolition is set to begin this week, and will include three vacant spaces next door to the former Kmart. Kroger plans to build a 129,000-square-foot superstore and fuel center on the site.
The project is expected to cost $26 million. When the superstore is complete, it is expected to employ more than 300 workers in both part-time and full-time positions.
Toronto-based Slate Asset Management is listed as the owner of the property, and is a partner on the project.
