ABOUT PAY

How much will I get paid?

This will depend on the job you are placed on and the withholding you select on your tax forms.

How do I get paid?

You have a couple options! You can 1) sign up for a PayCard and each week your pay will be added to the card that you can use just like a debit card. or 2) choose direct deposit and have your pay deposited into your bank account.

When do I get paid?

Pay day is Friday with Spec. However, if you have direct deposit, depending on how your bank processes, your deposit time may vary. For example: some banks update on Friday at midnight, while others may update when their business opens at 8am or 9am Friday.

Why do I need to fill out tax forms?

To work for Spec you must complete the appropriate tax forms for your state. This may be your state tax witholding form and the federal tax withholding form, or just the federal tax withholding form. It all depends on your state. For example, if you live and work in North Carolina you will have to fill out the NC-4 and W4 forms before you can start work. Directly from irs.gov, “Your employer is required to withhold income tax from your wages as if you are single with zero allowances if you do not submit a Form W4.”

How do I get my pay stubs?

Go to https://vns-ep.prismhr.com/#/auth/login

  • You will need to register for a username and password click ‘Register’. After registering, use the username and password you just created, and you will be taken to the employee portal. (Save your username and password for next time!)

Why don’t you offer live checks?

We do, however, live checks don’t allow us to make adjustments to your pay if there are any errors. This allows us to properly correct any payroll mistakes without further delay of you receiving your money.

Do I have to fill out the Direct Deposit? Can I just write down my information?

All direct deposit goes into “prenote” status (the bank deposits a penny into the account to verify the accuracy of account information provided. This prevents fraud and funds going into someone else’s account) without a copy of a check or bank form. This process can take several weeks to complete. In order for your direct deposit to start immediately, we can override this with a voided check or bank letterhead with your account info provided.

ABOUT APPLYING

What is the process for applying / How do I apply?

You can start the process in a few different ways.

  1. You can fill out the short questionnaire (click here) to get into our system. After this you will need to fill out our full application. If there is an immediate job to place you on you will also fill out the appropriate tax paperwork. You will also be interviewed by one of our recruiters either in person or over the phone. As long as all goes well, you can now be placed on the job!
  2. You can go to one of our locations (click here) and fill out the application there and they will take you through the next steps.
  3. If you applied to one of our job ads through a website like Indeed or ZipRecruiter a recruiter will call you based on the information you’ve submitted. They will either have you come into the office or if you are far away will get you set up with your account to fill out the application online.

Important note:

Our application is online, you will need access to a computer and the internet to be able to apply for a job through Spec. All of our offices have computers you can fill out the application. If you are remote and do not have a computer your local library has computer with an internet connection for your use for free.

What do I need to apply?

To apply with Spec personnel you will need your valid forms of ID to work within the United States. It’s also great if you have a resume to submit to us. Other than that, just yourself and a positive attitude!

What if I don’t have a computer?

Since our application is online, you must complete it on a computer. If you don’t have a computer you can come into your local Spec office. If you do not live near one of our offices you can use computers with online access for free at your local library.

Why is the application so long?

If you are a CDL Driver, you must meet DOT regulations. The CDL Driver application is 10 pages and all are non-negotiable requirements to drive legally as a CDL Driver. If you are filling out one of our General Applications, the application is only 1 ½ pages. The additional pages are policies and procedures to read and sign that protect you, as well as Spec.

What do you look for and how far back do you go on backgrounds?

First, please note that if a background check will be run on you, you will be asked to sign the Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure Statement and Authorization to Release Information forms. If our client (the job you are trying to get) requires a background check it will likely be a 7-year report. We will only take job relevant information into consideration. For example, if the job is a CDL driver delivering spirits and alcohol and a candidate has a felony alcohol theft conviction within the period the client looks at, that person will not be able to work that particular job.

Do I have to complete all the job history on the application if I give you my resume?

Yes. Your resume may not contain all the information we require on our application. Also, when we submit you to a client for a job, having all your work history information on our application looks clearer and more uniform.

Do I have to come into the office?

If you can come into one of our local offices that is HIGHLY PREFERABLE. It gives us a chance to get to know you and for you to get to know us! Also, it will give you the opportunity to ask us questions. You will only have to come into the office once for filling out your application and doing an interview with one of our recruiters.

ABOUT WORKING

Is it full time, guaranteed work?

We offer a wide variety of jobs you can be placed on.Some jobs are part-time, some full-time, and some temporary. If you desire full-time work, that is what we will try to get for you. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee work. Our job is to find a job for you that is the right fit and where you will be happy. Placing you on just any job is not our goal. We want you to have the kind of job you will enjoy and want to go to work.

How soon can I work?

You can start working as soon you meet the a client’s (job) requirements! That can be as soon as the same day or if the client (job) has strict requirements, it may take a few days to meet them, such as background checks.

How much or how little can I work?

If you only want a temporary job we can find that for you. If you want to work full time, we can find that for you as well. How much you work will be up to you. But note that if you agree to work a full-time job, you will be accountable to working that job. Try to be realistic about your job expectations. Making overtime pay can be very appealing, however if you cannot perform the work to the best of your ability, that is not in your best interest.

How can I get a permanent position?

We are a staffing agency, not a temp company. If you want a permanent position that can come in one of two ways. Most of our jobs we place workers on are temp-to-perm. That means once you’ve successfully worked a certain amount of hours the client (job) has the option to hire you on permanently. On occasion we do get requests from our clients for immediate permanent placements, but that is not frequent.

How far do I have to travel?

This will depend on the job you work. If you do not mind a little bit of travel distance that will increase the amount of jobs you can work. It can also depend on the nature of the job. For example, if you are an HVAC Technician, you know you will be traveling a lot within a certain area, it’s simply part of the job.

What if I can’t make it into work?

If you legitimately cannot make it into work you must call your recruiter immediately. However, please note that repeated call outs will result in termination and can greatly affect you getting another job with us.

What if I don’t like my placement/job?

It is our desire to put you on a job that you want to work. If it ends up not being something you can do, a hostile environment, or not what you expected, talk to your recruiter. We will do our best to find you another job. But, do not just walk off the job, we cannot get you another job if you do not communicate with us.

How do I submit my hours?

During the application process you will be provided with a login for https://speconthejob.bbo.bullhornstaffing.com. The same place you fill out your application is where you will enter your time, unless your placement is with a company that uses their own system.
