Tippecanoe County, INSweden-based global defense and security firm Saab is planning to build a $37 million manufacturing and production facility in West Lafayette, IN. The company plans to hire 300 workers.

The new facility will be used to manufacturing a portion of the U.S. Air Force’s T-X pilot training aircraft. Saab was one of two firms to receive a $9.2 billion contract from the U.S. Air Force to build at least 351 of the training jets in the first phase.

Construction of the manufacturing facility will begin in 2020 in Purdue University’s Discovery Park. Saab plans to hire assembly operators, as well as employees in logistics and manufacturing engineering.
