Amazon is moving forward with plans to lease 47 acres in the northwest sector of Lakeland Linder International Airport. Amazon would then be able to expand onto additional acreage within the first five years of the ground lease.
The company plans to build a 223,000-square-foot facility, along with two additional facilities. Construction is expected to begin on July 3 and to take about a year.
The project is estimated to bring 800 to 1,000 jobs to Lakeland.
